Sager LLP, its partners, corporations and management (collectively “Sager” “we” or “us”) are committed to maintaining the privacy, security and confidentiality of your personal information. Sager takes responsibility for maintaining and collecting the personal information under our control.
Any personal information that is provided to Sager is treated with care and subject to this Policy and applicable law. Your information will not be used or disclosed in any way that you have not consented to as set out below. Our professionals, employees and agents are subject to professional and ethical obligations relating to the confidentiality of information received in the context of providing legal services.
When you provide your personal information to Sager you are providing your consent to the collection, use and disclosure of your personal information as set out in this Policy and through the retainer with our firm. If you do not consent to the collection, use and disclosure of your personal information please do not provide any to Sager. Some services, however, may not be able to be provided without the disclosure of personal information.
Personal information includes information about an identifiable individual or information that permits and individual to be identified. This does not include information that is generally available to the public and generally does not include business contact information.
Collection and Use
In the course of providing legal services Sager requires access to all relevant information that relates to our retainers and the representation of our clients. Some of this information will include personal information about our clients and other individuals. Typically the personal information collected is provided voluntarily. At times, however, we may collect information from third party sources as permitted by law.
We use the personal information for the provision of legal services. We may also use the personal information to communicate with you and others about information that we consider may be of interest to you, for firm survey purposes and to evaluate client services. If you do not want us to use your personal information for these purposes you may notify us at any time by providing written notice to any partner of Sager. You will not be refused services merely because you have advised us you do not wish us to use your personal information for these additional purposes.
Personal information is provided to Sager in confidence. We do not disclose the information to any third party except with actual or implied consent or as permitted or required by law. We do not exchange or sell personal information. When appropriate we will ask for specific consent to collect, use and disclose personal information which may be done orally or in writing. In some circumstances consent is implied through conduct or the individual relationship. An authorized representative, such as a lawyer, agent or broker, can also provide consent on your behalf. You are able to withdraw your consent with reasonable notice at any time subject to legal or contractual restrictions. We will inform you of the likely consequences of the withdrawal of consent, which may include our inability to provide service, if a notice of withdrawal is received.
You have a right to access your personal information held by Sager and may request information about its collection, use and disclosure by contacting a partner of Sager in writing with such a request. We do reserve the right to confirm your identity before providing such information and a request may be denied if required or authorized by law including the requirement of client confidentiality or solicitor-client privilege. If a request is denied we will provide an explanation of the reasons for such a refusal.
Sager is responsible only for the privacy of the information it collects. We are not responsible for the privacy practices and policies of third parties.
